Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sunho Meitong (Compound Digestive Enzyme Capsules) is an oral fixed-dose combination of digestive enzymes and a bile acid, developed by Beijing Sunho Pharmaceutical (and its subsidiary Guangdong Sunho) for the treatment of indigestion and lack of appetite. Each capsule contains pepsin, papain, amylase, ursodeoxycholic acid, cellulase, and pancreatin (which includes trypsin, pancreatic amylase, and pancreatic lipase). The formulation utilizes a segmented disintegration and localized release technology, allowing the different enzymes to release and function at their optimal pH levels in the gastrointestinal tract. Pepsin and papain break down proteins in the stomach; amylase digests carbohydrates; ursodeoxycholic acid promotes bile secretion and emulsifies fats; cellulase degrades plant cell walls; and pancreatin further digests proteins, fats, and starches in the small intestine.
