Overview

This drug is a **combination therapy** consisting of sunitinib (a small molecule receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor) and exemestane (a steroidal aromatase inhibitor). Sunitinib inhibits multiple receptor tyrosine kinases involved in tumor angiogenesis and cell proliferation, including vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), c-KIT, FLT3, CSF-1R, and RET. Exemestane, as an aromatase inhibitor, suppresses estrogen production by irreversibly blocking the aromatase enzyme, thereby reducing the growth stimulatory effects of estrogen on hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cells. The combination is being investigated, particularly for hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, including as neoadjuvant therapy in postmenopausal women, aiming to enhance antitumor efficacy through dual blockade of tumor signaling and hormonal stimulation[1][2].
