Overview
Suo Quan Wan (SQW) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation composed of *Alpinia oxyphylla* Miq., *Dioscorea opposita* Thunb., and *Radix Lindera* in a 1:1:1 ratio. Traditionally used in TCM to warm kidney yang and treat conditions such as frequent urination and urinary incontinence, it is being investigated for its potential therapeutic effects in managing clozapine-induced hypersalivation (sialorrhea). The Psychiatry Department at Taichung Veterans General Hospital evaluated the formulation in a Phase 2 randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial to determine if it can reduce excessive salivation in patients with schizophrenia, thereby improving medication compliance and overall quality of life.
