Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Suoyang Gujing Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used primarily to treat symptoms associated with kidney-yang deficiency. It is indicated for conditions such as spermatorrhea (involuntary seminal emission), dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, and general fatigue. The formula contains a combination of herbs that aim to tonify the kidney and strengthen yang energy while securing essence (seminal fluid). Key ingredients include suo yang (Cynomorium songaricum), rou cong rong (Cistanche deserticola), ba ji tian (Morinda officinalis), bu gu zhi (Psoralea corylifolia), tu si zi (Cuscuta chinensis), du zhong tan (Eucommia ulmoides bark charcoal), among others. The mechanism of action in TCM terms involves warming the kidney, replenishing essence and blood, nourishing yin, clearing heat, strengthening the spleen and promoting diuresis[1][4]. There is no established mechanism according to modern pharmacology.
