supaglutide

Supaglutide (also known as IsuPagrutide α or SY-008) is an ultra-long-acting recombinant human glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA). It is a fusion protein consisting of a human GLP-1 analogue covalently linked to the Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4), a design that significantly extends its circulating half-life and allows for once-weekly or less frequent subcutaneous administration. Developed by Yabao Pharmaceutical, supaglutide mimics the action of endogenous GLP-1 by activating the GLP-1 receptor, which stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion, inhibits glucagon release, and delays gastric emptying. The drug is primarily being investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. Clinical studies, including those conducted at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, have also evaluated its efficacy in reducing body weight and its impact on gonadal hormone profiles in overweight or obese adults.
