Super-oxidized solution (SOS) is an electro-chemically processed aqueous solution made from distilled water and sodium chloride. The electrolysis process generates a mixture of reactive oxygen species, primarily hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and small amounts of sodium hypochlorite, at a neutral or slightly acidic pH. SOS exhibits potent broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria (including MRSA and VRE), viruses, fungi, and spores by inducing oxidative damage to microbial cell walls and membranes, leading to lysis. Beyond its biocidal properties, SOS is known to facilitate wound healing by increasing capillary perfusion, reducing inflammation, and degrading biofilms without being cytotoxic to human tissue. It is primarily used for wound debridement, irrigation, and the treatment of chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers and pressure sores.
