Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse is a medical solution used to treat dry mouth (xerostomia) and oral mucositis. It works by increasing the amount of saliva in the mouth, which makes it easier to speak and swallow. The rinse contains high concentrations of calcium and phosphate ions that help permeate intercellular spaces of injured epithelial tissues to promote healing. It also contains sodium bicarbonate which helps buffer salivary pH. The solution moistens, lubricates, and cleans the oral cavity, acting as a partial substitute for natural saliva.
