suplatast tosilate

Suplatast tosilate is an orally active small molecule antiallergic and immunoregulatory drug that acts as a Th2 cytokine inhibitor. It suppresses the production of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, and IL-13 by T helper type 2 (Th2) cells, leading to reduced IgE synthesis, eosinophil infiltration, and histamine release. This mechanism underlies its use in allergic diseases such as bronchial asthma, atopic dermatitis, and allergic rhinitis. Suplatast tosilate has also been investigated for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic cough related to fibrotic lung disease, Kimura's disease, and was previously studied for interstitial cystitis. The drug does not provide immediate relief of acute asthma attacks but is used for long-term management of allergic conditions[1][5][6][8][9].
