Overview

Supramolecular salicylic acid (SSA) is a novel formulation that uses supramolecular technology to covalently bond salicylic acid with poloxamer 407, forming a more stable compound that easily dissolves in water. This formulation provides SSA with a stable structure and the ability to remain persistent on the skin, releasing active ingredients slowly and steadily, thereby enhancing the bioavailability of salicylic acid while reducing irritation and stinging sensations during treatment. SSA is a reversely thermo-reversible hydrogel with an adjustable solution-to-gel transition temperature in the range of 4–45°C. It exhibits keratolytic, anti-inflammatory, bacteriostatic, and photoprotective properties, making it effective for various dermatological conditions.
