Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SUPT6H siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to target and silence the expression of the SUPT6H gene, which encodes the histone chaperone and transcription elongation factor SPT6. In hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), SPT6 acts as a regulator of the fibrogenic phenotype, promoting gene expression programs associated with extracellular matrix (ECM) production, cell adhesion, and cell migration. Depletion of SUPT6H via siRNA reduces collagen and alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) production, decreases cell migration, and promotes lipid droplet accumulation, leading to HSC inactivation without reducing cell viability. This makes SUPT6H siRNA a potential therapeutic candidate or research tool for the treatment of liver fibrosis.
