Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SURF-200** is an investigational ophthalmic drug being developed for the treatment of acute (episodic) dry eye disease. It consists of low-concentration betamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, formulated in the Klarity vehicle—an excipient designed to enhance ocular surface protection and tolerability. Betamethasone is well established globally as a corticosteroid but is being introduced into ocular therapy in the U.S. through this product. The formulation is intended to provide efficacy comparable to currently available ocular steroids with potentially improved safety and tolerability. SURF-200 is in Phase II clinical development, with trials focused on symptom improvement in acute dry eye patients[1][4][5][6].
