Surgical Lyophilized Human Fibrin Glue is a plasma-derived biologic fibrin sealant being developed by Zhejiang Haikang Pharmaceutical. Composed of human fibrinogen and human thrombin, it is designed for topical application to achieve surgical hemostasis and facilitate wound closure. The product works by mimicking the final stage of the natural coagulation cascade: upon reconstitution and application, thrombin cleaves fibrinogen to form a stable fibrin clot at the site of injury. This mechanism provides a physical barrier and promotes platelet aggregation to control bleeding when conventional surgical techniques like sutures or cautery are insufficient. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
