Survivin 2B siRNA (also known as 2B-siRNA) is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic designed to specifically silence the survivin 2B splice variant, an isoform of the BIRC5 gene. Survivin 2B is a proto-oncogene that promotes cell cycle progression and confers resistance to apoptosis. Preclinical research has primarily investigated its potential in treating taxane-resistant ovarian cancer, where the variant is significantly overexpressed compared to taxane-sensitive cells. It has also been studied in the context of rheumatoid arthritis, where it is upregulated in fibroblast-like synoviocytes. The compound is typically formulated with DOPC (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) nanoliposomes for in vivo delivery and has demonstrated significant tumor growth reduction in orthotopic murine models, particularly when used in combination with docetaxel chemotherapy. It is currently a research tool used in academic settings and has no identified commercial developer or brand name.
