Survodutide-Cy7 is a fluorescently labeled derivative of survodutide, a dual agonist of the glucagon receptor (GCGR) and the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R). It is utilized as a preclinical imaging agent to map the distribution and target engagement of survodutide in the brain, particularly within the circumventricular organs and hypothalamic nuclei involved in appetite regulation. The Cy7 fluorophore allows for near-infrared fluorescence imaging, enabling researchers to visualize the drug's ability to access specific brain regions without uniformly crossing the blood-brain barrier. The parent molecule, survodutide, is being developed by Boehringer Ingelheim and Zealand Pharma for metabolic conditions including obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).
