Overview

Sustanon 250 is a combination testosterone medication containing four different testosterone esters. It's primarily used for testosterone replacement therapy in males with hypogonadism and as supportive therapy for female-to-male transgender individuals. ## Composition Sustanon 250 contains four testosterone esters in a 1 ml solution: - 30 mg Testosterone propionate - 60 mg Testosterone phenylpropionate - 60 mg Testosterone isocaproate - 100 mg Testosterone decanoate The total amount of testosterone per ml is 176 mg, despite the "250" in the name referring to the total weight of the esters (250 mg)[1][3][7]. ## Medical Uses Sustanon 250 is indicated for: - Testosterone replacement therapy in male hypogonadism (both primary and secondary)[3][6] - Supportive therapy for female-to-male transgender individuals[1][3][6] - Treatment of delayed puberty in adolescents[5][8] - In some cases, treatment of osteoporosis caused by androgen deficiency[3] ## Administration Sustanon 250 is administered via intramuscular injection, typically into the gluteal muscle. The standard dosage for adults is one injection (1 ml) every 3-4 weeks, though this may be adjusted based on individual response[1][5][7]. For female-to-male transgender individuals, it may be administered every two weeks[1]. ## Pharmacology The four different testosterone esters in Sustanon 250 have varying durations of action, providing a sustained release of testosterone over time: - Testosterone propionate: Fast-acting ester providing immediate effects - Testosterone phenylpropionate: Intermediate-acting - Testosterone isocaproate: Intermediate-acting - Testosterone decanoate: Long-acting After injection, these esters are hydrolyzed into natural testosterone as they enter the general circulation[1][3]. A single dose leads to peak plasma testosterone levels of approximately 70 nmol/l, reached about 24-48 hours after administration, with levels returning to the lower limit of the normal range in approximately 21 days[1]. ## Side Effects As with all testosterone preparations, Sustanon 250 may cause various side effects, which should be monitored through regular blood tests, particularly checking hemoglobin and hematocrit levels[5].
