sutimlimab

Sutimlimab is a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody used to treat adults with cold agglutinin disease (CAD), a rare autoimmune hemolytic anemia in which the immune system destroys its own red blood cells. Sutimlimab works by selectively inhibiting the Complement C1s subcomponent enzyme, a serine protease that initiates the classical complement pathway. By blocking C1s, it prevents complement-mediated destruction of red blood cells while leaving other complement pathways (lectin and alternative) intact. The drug is administered intravenously and has demonstrated efficacy in reducing hemolysis and transfusion requirements in clinical trials[5][6][7][8]. Sutimlimab was developed as the first-in-class classical pathway inhibitor for CAD.
