Suvaro

Suvaro is a brand of rosuvastatin calcium, a synthetic lipid-lowering agent in the statin class, specifically available in an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) formulation in South Korea. It is used to treat dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertriglyceridemia. As a selective and competitive inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, it blocks the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, the rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis. This inhibition primarily occurs in the liver, leading to increased expression of LDL receptors on the surface of hepatocytes, which enhances the uptake and catabolism of LDL from the blood.
