Overview

Suvemcitug is a new-generation recombinant humanized anti-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) rabbit monoclonal antibody. It selectively binds to human VEGF and blocks its biological activity by preventing VEGF from binding to its receptors (VEGFR1 and VEGFR2), thereby inhibiting angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels—which is critical for tumor growth and metastasis[1][2][6]. Suvemcitug has demonstrated higher affinity and greater anti-tumor efficacy than bevacizumab in preclinical models at equivalent doses[4][6]. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of recurrent, platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer. Clinical trials have shown that suvemcitug combined with chemotherapy significantly improves progression-free survival in these patients compared to placebo plus chemotherapy[2][4][5]. The drug has also been investigated in advanced solid tumors and metastatic colorectal cancer[3][6], showing promising antitumor activity and an acceptable safety profile.
