Overview

SUVN-504 is a potent, selective, and orally bioavailable 5-HT6 receptor antagonist developed by Suven Life Sciences for the treatment of cognitive impairments associated with neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders. The 5-HT6 receptor is almost exclusively expressed in the central nervous system, particularly in areas involved in learning and memory such as the hippocampus and frontal cortex. By blocking these receptors, SUVN-504 modulates the release of several neurotransmitters, including acetylcholine, glutamate, and norepinephrine, which are critical for cognitive processes. The drug has completed Phase 1 clinical trials, where it demonstrated a favorable safety and tolerability profile, positioning it as a potential therapeutic candidate for conditions like Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia.
