Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Suyin Jiedu Granule (SYJD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine) specifically for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD), including IgA nephropathy and diabetic kidney disease. The formula is based on the TCM principles of tonifying the spleen and kidney while clearing heat and detoxifying. It is primarily used to reduce proteinuria and delay the progression of renal failure. Research indicates that SYJD exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the TGF-beta1/Smad signaling pathway, which is a key driver of renal fibrosis, and by suppressing the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome to reduce inflammatory damage in the kidneys. Additionally, it has been shown to modulate the gut microbiota, potentially influencing the gut-kidney axis to improve metabolic profiles in CKD patients. It is currently utilized as a hospital-made preparation and has been the subject of several clinical trials in China.
