Overview

SV-BR-1-GM is an allogeneic whole-cell cancer vaccine derived from the human breast cancer cell line SV-BR-1. The cells are genetically engineered to secrete granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), enhancing their immunostimulatory properties. After irradiation to prevent proliferation, these cells are administered intradermally as a targeted immunotherapy for advanced and metastatic breast cancer. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the patient's immune system to recognize and attack tumor antigens shared between the vaccine and patient tumors; HLA matching may enhance response rates. The regimen often includes pre-dose low-dose cyclophosphamide and post-inoculation interferon alpha to further modulate immune responses[2][6][8][10]. Developed by BriaCell Therapeutics Corp., with originator Wiseman Research Initiatives LLC[1], it has reached Phase III clinical trials in metastatic or locally recurrent breast cancer[3][10].
