Overview

SVP-161 is a long-acting injectable analgesic for companion animals, developed by Skyline Vet Pharma under license from Lumosa Therapeutics, and is a prodrug formulation of nalbuphine designed for extended-release pain control. SVP-161 (also known as CS011) converts in vivo to nalbuphine, an opioid analgesic that acts as a kappa opioid receptor agonist and partial mu opioid receptor antagonist, providing relief of moderate to severe pain with a ceiling effect on respiratory depression and a differentiated safety profile relative to traditional full mu-opioid agonists.[4][7] The product is being developed for veterinary use in North America, Australia, and New Zealand to offer veterinarians a longer-acting, injectable opioid option for perioperative and other acute pain management in companion animals.[4][7]
