Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SWE + QIV is an investigational vaccine combination consisting of the SWE adjuvant (a squalene-in-water emulsion) and a standard quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (QIV). Developed by the Gates Medical Research Institute, the SWE adjuvant is an oil-in-water emulsion designed to enhance the magnitude and breadth of the immune response to seasonal influenza antigens. This approach is particularly targeted at older adults, who often exhibit reduced vaccine efficacy due to immunosenescence. The combination is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to establish its safety profile and demonstrate its potential to enhance the immunogenicity of existing influenza vaccines.
