Overview

SWIM516 is a next-generation, broad-spectrum mRNA vaccine candidate designed to protect against SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Delta and Omicron sub-variants. It utilizes a chimeric Delta-BA.2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) dimer as its active immunogen, delivered via a proprietary lipopolyplex (LPP) system. Unlike traditional lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery, the LPP system is designed to restrict mRNA expression to the injection site, potentially minimizing systemic side effects such as liver toxicity. Preclinical data in mice and rhesus macaques have demonstrated robust humoral and cellular immune responses and protection against live virus challenge. The vaccine's design is inspired by the dimeric RBD approach used in the ZF2001 protein subunit vaccine.
