Overview

SWK001 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Hunan Siweikang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor that specifically targets the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), also known as tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 17 (TNFRSF17). BCMA is highly and selectively expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma, making it an ideal target for cellular immunotherapy. Upon re-infusion into the patient, the engineered SWK001 cells recognize and bind to BCMA-expressing myeloma cells, leading to T-cell activation and subsequent tumor cell lysis. SWK001 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and anti-tumor activity in patients who have exhausted standard treatment options.
