Overview

SWK002 is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the B-lymphocyte antigen CD19, developed by Hunan Siweikang Therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. The therapy is primarily being evaluated for difficult-to-treat (D2T) rheumatoid arthritis, a condition characterized by persistent disease activity despite treatment with multiple conventional and biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). SWK002 involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T-cells to express a CAR directed against CD19, a marker widely expressed on B-lineage cells. By inducing the targeted depletion of pathogenic B-cells, SWK002 aims to eliminate autoantibody-producing clones and disrupt the inflammatory cycle in the synovial tissue. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development in China, representing part of a broader shift in cell therapy applications from oncology to high-unmet-need autoimmune indications.
