Overview

SYHA1908 is an investigational, orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of Protein Arginine Methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5), developed by CSPC Zhongqi Pharmaceutical Technology (a subsidiary of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group). PRMT5 is an epigenetic enzyme responsible for the symmetric dimethylation of arginine residues on histone and non-histone proteins, a modification that regulates gene transcription, RNA splicing, and protein translation. Overexpression of PRMT5 is frequently observed in various cancers and is associated with poor prognosis, as it drives oncogenic signaling pathways and promotes tumor cell survival. By selectively inhibiting PRMT5, SYHA1908 aims to disrupt these processes, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in susceptible tumor cells. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of patients with advanced solid tumors.
