Sym007 is a recombinant polyclonal antibody (rpAb) candidate developed by Symphogen for the treatment and prevention of *Streptococcus pneumoniae* infections. Utilizing Symphogen's proprietary Symplex technology, Sym007 consists of a defined mixture of 28 distinct human IgG1 antibodies that target a variety of pneumococcal surface proteins and capsular polysaccharides. This polyclonal approach is designed to mimic the natural immune response, providing broad-spectrum coverage across multiple serotypes, including those not covered by existing conjugate vaccines. The primary mechanism of action is opsonophagocytosis, where the antibodies bind to the bacterial surface and facilitate recognition and clearance by phagocytic immune cells such as macrophages and neutrophils. Development of Sym007 was discontinued as the company shifted its strategic focus toward oncology and other therapeutic areas.
