Symbios mineralized cortical-cancellous granule mix + Symbios OsteoShield Collagen Resorbable Membrane is a combination of dental biomaterials used for alveolar ridge preservation and guided bone regeneration (GBR). The allograft component consists of a mixture of mineralized cortical and cancellous bone granules derived from human donors, providing an osteoconductive scaffold that supports the migration and attachment of osteogenic cells for new bone formation. The Symbios OsteoShield component is a resorbable membrane made from highly purified porcine Type I collagen, designed to act as a biological barrier that prevents fast-growing soft tissue from infiltrating the bone graft site, thereby facilitating undisturbed bone healing. This specific combination was evaluated by the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in comparative clinical studies to assess its efficacy in maintaining alveolar ridge volume following tooth extraction to support future dental implant placement.
