Overview

SymClot is a synthetic platelet-mimetic technology developed by SelSym Biotech for hemorrhage control and hemostasis. The product consists of ultrasoft hydrogel microgels designed to mimic the mechanical and functional properties of native platelets. SymClot's mechanism of action involves fibrin-specific targeting, which allows the particles to home to sites of vascular injury. Once at the injury site, the microgels mechanically deform and integrate into the developing fibrin network, inducing clot retraction and promoting stable clot formation. This technology is intended for use in multiple clinical settings, including trauma, surgical bleeding, bleeding disorders, and postpartum hemorrhage. Unlike donated platelets, SymClot can be freeze-dried for room temperature storage and extended shelf life, and its wound-specific targeting minimizes the risk of systemic thrombosis.
