Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Syn17D-YF (also known as CDX-470) is a fully synthetic, live-attenuated yellow fever vaccine candidate developed by Codagenix using its proprietary Synthetic Attenuated Virus Engineering (SAVE) platform. Unlike traditional yellow fever vaccines that are manufactured using embryonated chicken eggs—a process dating back to the 1930s that is difficult to scale rapidly during outbreaks—Syn17D-YF is designed for modern cell-culture manufacturing. It is based on the genome sequence of the yellow fever virus vaccine strain 17D-204, making it genetically stable and highly yield-productive in cell culture without the risk of mutating back to pathogenicity. In September 2026, Codagenix exclusively licensed Syn17D-YF to VaxThera, a Colombian biotechnology company, which will lead its manufacturing, preclinical and clinical development, and commercialization in selected global markets.
