Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SynB1-ELP-p50i is a novel polypeptide biologic consisting of a cell-penetrating peptide (SynB1) fused to an elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) drug carrier and a specific peptide inhibitor of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) p50 subunit (p50i). Developed by the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Leflore Technologies, it acts as a competitive inhibitor of NF-κB nuclear translocation by mimicking the NF-κB nuclear localization signal. This prevents the transport of NF-κB to the nucleus, thereby reducing neuroinflammation and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6. SynB1-ELP-p50i is being investigated in preclinical models for the treatment of ischemic stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), preeclampsia, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) with left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD).
