Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Synbiotic 2000 is a multi-strain synbiotic preparation consisting of four probiotic bacteria (*Pediococcus pentosaceus* 5-33:3, *Leuconostoc mesenteroides* 77:1, *Lactobacillus paracasei* subsp. *paracasei* 19, and *Lactobacillus plantarum* 2362) and four fermentable prebiotic fibers (betaglucan, inulin, pectin, and resistant starch). Developed by Synbiotic AB, it is designed to restore gut microbiota balance and modulate the immune system to reduce systemic inflammation and the risk of infections. It has been studied in various clinical settings, including post-operative recovery (e.g., cardiac and abdominal surgery), liver transplantation, and critical illness, to prevent complications like sepsis and surgical site infections.
