Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Synbiotic 2000FORTE is a high-potency synbiotic preparation comprising four probiotic lactic acid bacteria strains—*Lactobacillus plantarum* 2362, *Lactobacillus paracasei* subsp. *paracasei* F19, *Lactobacillus acidophilus* La5, and *Bifidobacterium animalis* subsp. *lactis* Bb12—and four bioactive prebiotic fibers: betaglucan, inulin, pectin, and resistant starch. Developed primarily for use in critically ill patients, it aims to modulate the gut microbiome, enhance the intestinal mucosal barrier, and reduce systemic inflammation. Clinical evidence suggests that its administration can significantly decrease the risk of sepsis, bloodstream infections, and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), particularly in patients with severe trauma or those undergoing major surgical procedures like liver transplantation or pancreatoduodenectomy. The 'FORTE' version is distinguished by a higher concentration of probiotics (10^11 CFU per strain) compared to the standard Synbiotic 2000 formulation.
