SYNCHRONY is a brand name for a combination herbicide product containing the active ingredients **chlorimuron-ethyl** and **thifensulfuron-methyl**. It is primarily used in agricultural settings, particularly for post-emergence weed control in soybean crops. The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which is essential for the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) in plants. By blocking this pathway, the herbicide causes a cessation of cell division and subsequent plant death in susceptible weed species. It is developed and marketed by DuPont (now part of Corteva Agriscience).
