Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Synerzyme Syrup is a digestive enzyme formulation containing fungal diastase and pepsin. Fungal diastase is a starch-degrading enzyme (amylase) typically derived from *Aspergillus oryzae* that catalyzes the breakdown of complex carbohydrates into simpler sugars like maltose, facilitating easier digestion and absorption. Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that hydrolyzes dietary proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids in the acidic environment of the stomach. Together, these enzymes act synergistically to alleviate symptoms of indigestion, bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort, and to stimulate appetite. It is manufactured and distributed by Meridian Medicare (under its division Meri Odin Life Sciences) as a branded generic formulation.
