Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SYNFERON (also referred to as SYNFERON Biologics) is a preclinical-stage tunable biologic therapeutic being developed by Integer Biosciences. It consists of synthetic proteins engineered to act as partial agonists of the Type I interferon receptors, IFNAR1 and IFNAR2. By specifically engaging these receptors, SYNFERON activates the innate immune system's interferon pathway to induce the expression of over 300 interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) that provide broad-spectrum antiviral activity. The technology is designed to fine-tune immune signaling, allowing for potent pathogen inhibition while reducing the hyper-inflammatory responses and subsequent cellular damage often associated with traditional Type I interferon treatments. SYNFERON is currently being evaluated for applications in virology (including RSV, influenza, and HBV), oncology, and immunology.
