Overview

SynGEM is an investigational intranasal subunit vaccine candidate designed to protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. It utilizes a unique prefusion version of the RSV F (fusion) protein, which is bound to bacterium-like particles (BLPs) derived from food-grade bacteria using Mucosis’ patented Mimopath technology. This approach aims to present the antigen in a natural conformation and enhance immune response. The prefusion F protein displays distinct antigenic sites targeted by potent neutralizing antibodies, leading to robust systemic IgG and mucosal IgA responses. Delivered as a needle-free nasal spray, SynGEM induces both local and systemic immunity, with clinical studies showing it is well-tolerated and capable of generating durable immune responses in healthy adults[1][5][6][8]. The vaccine has been developed primarily for the prevention of RSV infection.
