Overview

SynKIR-110 is an investigational autologous cell therapy in which a patient’s own T cells are genetically engineered to express a killer immunoglobulin-like receptor-chimeric antigen receptor (KIR-CAR) targeting mesothelin, a tumor-associated antigen overexpressed in several solid tumors. The KIR-CAR platform incorporates features designed to improve persistence and efficacy of the modified T cells against aggressive solid tumors by allowing the engineered cells to rest when not exposed to tumor antigens and enhancing their stability on the cell surface. Upon administration, SynKIR-110 specifically targets and kills mesothelin-expressing tumor cells. It is being developed primarily for mesothelioma but is also under investigation for cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and ovarian cancer. The drug has received FDA fast track and orphan drug designations for mesothelioma[1][2][3][4][5][7][8].
