Overview

Synovex Choice is a combination growth-promoting implant for use in beef cattle, specifically steers and heifers, to increase the rate of weight gain and improve feed efficiency. Each implant contains 100 mg trenbolone acetate (a synthetic anabolic steroid) and 14 mg estradiol benzoate (an estrogenic compound). The product is administered as a subcutaneous ear implant and is approved for use in growing beef steers and heifers on pasture, in dry lot, or fed in confinement for slaughter. The mechanism of action involves the combined anabolic effects of trenbolone acetate (androgen receptor agonist) promoting muscle growth, and estradiol benzoate (estrogen receptor agonist) enhancing protein synthesis. Developed by Zoetis, it is FDA-approved under NADA #141-043[4][6][7]. Recent label expansions allow its use for increased weight gain in cattle on pasture as well as those fed in confinement[9].
