Overview

Synovian is an intra-articular injection composed of 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE) cross-linked hyaluronic acid. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis, functioning as a viscosupplement to alleviate pain and enhance joint mobility. Post-marketing surveillance studies in South Korea have confirmed its safety and effectiveness in real-world clinical settings, demonstrating significant reductions in pain scores. Synovian is also frequently utilized as an active comparator in clinical trials evaluating new hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) cross-linked hyaluronate injections (such as SP5M001 and SP5M002) and divinyl sulfone (DVS) cross-linked hyaluronate (YYD302) for knee osteoarthritis.
