Overview

SYNT-213 is an oral, gastrointestinal (GI)-stable enzyme replacement therapy being developed by Syntis Bio for the treatment of Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD). The therapeutic consists of the enzyme leucine decarboxylase (LDC) engineered for stability in the gut environment and delivered using the proprietary DIGEST™ platform for extended release. SYNT-213 works by degrading leucine from both dietary sources and enteric elimination within the GI tract, thereby reducing the systemic accumulation of this amino acid and its toxic byproducts, which are the primary drivers of neurological damage in MSUD patients.
