**synTac** is an experimental engineered immunotherapy platform composed of synthetic proteins designed to selectively engage antigen-specific T cell receptors and modulate T-cell responses. In the published HIV and CMV work from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, synTac constructs were used to expand virus-specific CD8-positive T cells and direct potent antiviral activity against infected cells, supporting development toward a functional cure strategy for HIV and potentially other chronic viral infections. The platform appears modular, with constructs incorporating peptide major histocompatibility complex elements together with additional activating or redirecting components such as costimulatory ligands, and it has also been described as capable of either activating or suppressing T-cell responses for potential use in autoimmune disease.
