Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Synthamin-17 without electrolytes (Synthamin 17, 10.0% Amino Acid Intravenous Infusion without Electrolytes) is a sterile, hypertonic intravenous solution containing 15 essential and non-essential L-amino acids (including L-alanine, L-arginine, glycine, L-histidine, L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-lysine, L-methionine, L-phenylalanine, L-proline, L-serine, L-threonine, L-tryptophan, L-tyrosine, and L-valine). Developed and manufactured by Baxter Healthcare, it is indicated for parenteral nutrition to provide a biologically available source of nitrogen for protein synthesis in patients who cannot absorb adequate oral nutrition. Additionally, the solution is being evaluated in clinical trials (such as those led by Austin Hospital) for its potential to improve kidney function and provide renal protection in critically ill, vasopressor-dependent adults.
