Overview
Molecular Express is developing a synthetic lung surfactant, a liposomal formulation designed to treat Acute Lung Injury (ALI) and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Lung surfactants are essential for maintaining alveolar stability by reducing surface tension; their deficiency or dysfunction is a hallmark of ARDS. The Molecular Express candidate utilizes a proprietary liposomal delivery system (LipoVant) to provide a stable, synthetic alternative to animal-derived surfactants, aiming to restore respiratory function and reduce inflammation in the lungs. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
