Overview

The synthetic melanoma-associated antigens vaccine is a peptide vaccine designed for the treatment of melanoma cancer. It contains synthetic epitope peptides derived from key melanoma tumor-associated antigens (TAAs), specifically gp100(280-288), tyrosinase(1-9), and melan-A(27-35). Upon administration, the vaccine aims to stimulate a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte immune response against melanoma cells that express these TAAs, leading to the lysis of tumor cells. The treatment protocol involves the administration of a psoralen-UV-treated and replication-incompetent recombinant vaccinia virus encoding these immunodominant HLA-A*0201-restricted epitopes, along with two costimulatory molecules, B7.1 and B7.2, in conjunction with systemic granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) treatment.
