Synthetic preimplantation factor (sPIF) is a chemically synthesized peptide that is an exact analog of the naturally occurring preimplantation factor (PIF), a 15-amino acid peptide secreted by viable embryos during early embryonic development. sPIF mimics the biological activity of endogenous PIF and acts primarily through paracrine signaling to modulate immune responses and promote maternal tolerance without causing immune suppression. It upregulates integrins on the endometrial wall to facilitate embryo implantation and has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and trophic effects in various preclinical models. sPIF is being investigated for therapeutic use in autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis, prevention of graft-versus-host disease, recurrent pregnancy loss, and perinatal brain injury[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
