Overview

SynthoPlate is a synthetic platelet-mimetic technology developed by Haima Therapeutics. It is a liposomal nanoconstruct surface-functionalized with specific ligands to mimic the hemostatic functions of natural platelets. The nanoconstruct is designed to bind to platelet adhesive targets, including the GPIIb-IIIa integrin, collagen, von Willebrand Factor (vWF), and fibrinogen, specifically at sites of vascular injury. By localizing to these sites, SynthoPlate amplifies the body's natural clotting mechanisms to stop bleeding. It is being developed for intravenous administration to treat traumatic hemorrhage, surgical bleeding, thrombocytopenia, and platelet dysfunction. The technology, originally developed at Case Western Reserve University, can be formulated as a stable, freeze-dried powder for rapid reconstitution in emergency settings.
