synuclein nitrase inhibitor

Nitrase Therapeutics is developing a small molecule inhibitor targeting synuclein nitrase, identified as glyoxalase domain-containing protein 4 (GLOD4), for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Synuclein nitrase is an enzyme that catalyzes the nitration of alpha-synuclein, a post-translational modification that triggers the protein's aggregation and contributes to neurodegeneration. By inhibiting GLOD4, the therapeutic is designed to prevent the nitration and subsequent aggregation of alpha-synuclein, potentially slowing or halting disease progression.
