SynVC is an autologous cell therapy developed by Accellvecs for the treatment of solid tumors. The therapy involves encapsulating a patient's own tumor cells with alpha-galactosylceramide (KRN7000), a potent natural killer T (NKT) cell-activating compound. Following encapsulation, cell death is induced in the tumor cells to create a therapeutic vector. When administered back to the patient, SynVC releases KRN7000 and tumor-specific neoantigens, which simultaneously activate NKT cells and dendritic cells (DCs). The activated DCs then present these neoantigens to the immune system, triggering the production of tumor-specific killer T cells and antibodies from B cells. This approach aims to harness both innate and adaptive immune responses to treat various types of cancer.
